IndepenDENce is a RUSH 2The DEN group for young people aged 15 to 21, designed to help them build the life skills they need for adulthood and independent living.
The group runs every Monday from 7:15pm to 8:45pm, excluding bank holidays and a short break over the Christmas period.
Preparing for the next steps
IndepenDENce focuses on the skills that are not always taught in school but are essential for everyday life. The aim is to support young people as they move towards adulthood, helping them feel more confident, capable, and prepared for what comes next.
Whether they are considering work, further education, or living more independently, this group provides practical guidance in a supportive, relaxed environment.
Real-life skills that matter
Sessions cover a wide range of everyday topics, including:
- cooking and basic meal preparation
- cleaning and taking responsibility around the home
- preparing for a first job, including expectations and confidence building
- understanding money, including income, spending, and saving
- budgeting for both everyday life and larger future expenses
- planning ahead and managing responsibilities
These are all skills that help young people feel more in control of their lives and better prepared for adulthood.
Shaped around the young people
Every group is different, so we make sure that sessions are tailored to the young people who attend. We listen to what they need, what they are interested in, and where they may need extra support.
This means the topics we cover are always relevant, practical, and useful, helping each individual get the most out of their time with us.
A supportive environment
IndepenDENce is a safe, friendly space where young people can ask questions, try new things, and learn without pressure. Our team supports them every step of the way, building confidence alongside practical skills.
