5-7s is RUSH 2The DEN’s youth club for children aged 5 to 7, offering a fun, friendly, and engaging space to play, learn, and build confidence.
The group runs every Monday from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, all year round except for a short break over Christmas.
On bank holidays, sessions are moved to Tuesday evenings so children don’t miss out.
A fun and welcoming space
Each session is designed to be relaxed, inclusive, and enjoyable, with a mix of toys, games, and crafts so there is something for every child.
We run weekly themes to keep things fresh and exciting. These might include:
- national holidays and celebrations
- space and science themes
- pets and animals
- our yearly “September Safety” sessions, which introduce age-appropriate learning around first aid, fire safety, water safety, and staying safe at home
How a typical session works
Sessions are semi-structured, giving children both routine and freedom to explore.
- Welcome time: Children sign in and join a short welcome talk, where they can share good news, chat about their week, or simply settle in
- Free play and activities: Children can move between leader-led crafts, toys, and games set up around the room
- Tuck time: Around 15 minutes before the end, we bring out the tuck trolley
- Home time: At 7:00pm, children collect their belongings, finished crafts, and get ready to head home
Learning through play
Even the small parts of the session are designed to support development.
The tuck trolley includes sweets, drinks, crisps, and sometimes small toys, with a spending limit of 50p per child. We encourage children to bring smaller coins where possible, helping them learn:
- the value of different coins
- basic money skills
- simple adding and spending
Older children are supported to work out their totals themselves, building confidence with numbers in a practical, real-life way.
Keeping parents connected
Our leaders take photos throughout the session, which are shared in a parents-only WhatsApp group. This helps families see what their children have been enjoying and feel part of the experience.
A supportive and engaging environment
5→7s is all about creating a space where children feel happy, included, and confident to try new things. With a mix of structure, creativity, and play, every session offers something a little different.
