Children love to squish, splash, splat and explore, and Messy Play at RUSH 2The DEN gives them the perfect chance to do exactly that.
Held every Tuesday, this creative and sensory session is suitable for babies, toddlers and young children up to school entry age. Little ones can enjoy getting hands-on with different materials, textures and activities in a safe, friendly and welcoming space. From dry, crumbly textures to sticky, squishy, and splashy fun, every session offers something different to discover.
We are open from 9:15am to 2:45pm on a drop-in basis, so you can visit at a time that works best for you and your child. The last entry is at 2pm, and the cost is £2.50 per child.
Messy play is about so much more than making a mess. It plays an important role in early childhood development by helping children learn through their senses. As they touch, pour, scoop, mix and explore, they are building confidence, curiosity and creativity.
Sessions like these can support the development of fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration and early problem-solving. They also encourage children to experiment, make choices, use their imagination and explore the world around them in a fun and natural way.
For many children, messy play is also a brilliant way to express themselves freely without pressure or rules. It is play led by curiosity, and that is where so much learning happens.
Please remember to dress for mess and bring clothes you do not mind getting dirty. Bringing a change of clothes is also advisable!
Aprons will be provided.
