We currently have 50 volunteers between Tots & Adults Charity and Youth Club Charity. This number includes Young Leaders and event volunteers.

At RUSH 2The DEN, our volunteers support different areas depending on their availability, with a flexible approach rather than a strict rota.

Youth Club

Each age group has a dedicated team of volunteer leaders. They mainly support their own sessions but will step in to help other groups when needed — for example, if someone is unwell or if attendance is higher than expected and extra adult support is required. Volunteers also help run events such as discos, camps, and fundraisers.

Tots & Adults

Volunteers have set days they usually attend. Each session has a “volunteer in charge” who is there for the full day, supported by others who may attend part-time — often in the mornings, or just for set-up and tidy-up, especially on busier sessions like Messy Play. Hours can range from a couple of hours a week to a half day. As with Youth Club, volunteers support each other and step in when needed.

Across all areas, everyone helps with tasks such as distributing food donations during their time at RUSH 2The DEN.

There are also keyholders who can assist with practical needs, such as opening up for children’s parties if River is unavailable.

Aside from River – who is usually first in and last out – volunteering is flexible. We understand that everyone has family and other commitments outside of RUSH 2The DEN. Our volunteers give their time because they want to support the community, in a way that works around their own lives.

Yes, we only shut for two weeks over Christmas (to carry out essential maintenance) and for all Bank Holidays.

We prefer cash, but we do have a scan to pay function where you can buy individual entry, or our prepay cards. You can also purchase our prepay cards on our website and collect them on your next visit.
